Hobbies and Commissions
One of my hobbies which I find rewarding and tremendously therapeutic is model making, or more precisely the creation of dioramas. Due to my railway interest (and job) these are usually railway themed and were initially just a way of practicing my modelling skills. Then, one day I was asked to create a diorama as a leaving gift for a colleague who was retiring. With some trepidation at first, I soon got completely engrossed and excited to watch it come to life. I was fairly happy with the finished result, but everyone else was so complementary. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was the thrill of the recipient when the diorama was presented.
I went on to be commissioned to produce several more dioramas and my skills improved tremendously as a result, with the finished item being more professional-looking each time, particularly with new materials and techniques being adopted.
